The Greater Akron AA Baseball League has announced it's award winners for the 2007 season.The Frank Garcia MVP Award went to Ron Spears of AA League Runner-Up Sharon Center Cox Painting. Spears (38 years old), joins Winston Austin (1981 Award Winner) as the oldest players to ever receive the Garcia Award. Spears, a shortstop, hit .465 and led the AA League with 33 hits and 19 RBI to help lead Sharon Center to a 29-9 record.
The Dave Young Pitcher of the Year Award went to Dan Hepler of the AA League Champion Randolph Reds. Hepler went 7-1 and tied for the league lead in wins. He also posted a 1.21 ERA and led the AA League in strikeouts with 52 K's.
The Don Lombardi Rookie of the Year Award went to Jimmy Jamieson. Jamieson played shortstop for Portage South and had a fine rookie season in the AA league posting a .400 batting average, with 26 hits, 13 RBI, and 9 stolen bases.
