Red White & Blue Without You

UPublish story by kgreenwald

Red, White and Blue Without You brought together sponsors, friends of the Arthritis Foundation and committee members recently to kick off the 2009 Red & White on Thursday Night, Akron’s premier wine and food-tasting event benefiting the Arthritis Foundation, Northeastern Ohio Chapter.

Debra Sherman of Hudson will co-chair the January 29 event with Arthritis Foundation Board member Lisa Kermizis Abraham.

Red & White on Thursday Night 2009 sponsors include Clear Channel Outdoor and Hitchcock Fleming & Associates Inc. (hfa).

Guests will sample cuisine from Akron’s best restaurants, including Bistro on Main, Caffessimo Café & Eclectic Edibles, The Harbor Inn, Hudson’s Restaurant, The Lockview, Saffron Patch of Akron, Stancato’s Italian Restaurant and The Westside Bakery.

At Red, White and Blue Without You, Unilever Executive Chef David C. Russell of Chicago prepared a Spanish menu including paella, tapas and caramel flan.

The event is held annually to thank past supporters and committee members and begin planning for the next year.

“This is an opportunity for our sponsors and committee members to join together in an effort to prevent, control and cure arthritis,” said Kermizis Abraham. “At this kick-off event, the excitement for Red & White on Thursday Night builds and those involved get a true sense of its importance.”

The goal of Red & White on Thursday Night, the Arthritis Foundation’s largest Akron-area fundraiser, is to raise arthritis awareness and funds supporting dozens of local Arthritis Foundation programs and services for people of all ages with arthritis.

Red & White on Thursday Night will take place at the John S. Knight Center on January 29, 2009, from 5:30 – 9 p.m. For sponsorship information, to purchase tickets, or to learn more about arthritis and the work of the Arthritis Foundation call Anne Cunningham at 330-644-3390, ext. 11.
