AKRON, OH – May 29, 2009 – GMP Friction Products, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of powdered metal friction products for clutch plates and brake pads, recently attained the ISO 9000-2000 international certification for excellence in manufacturing, in recognition of its standardized best practice production techniques.
"The ISO certification demonstrates our ability to consistently provide our products at a high standard of production excellence and ensures the integrity and safety of our production procedures," said Jerry Lynch, President and COO of GMP Friction Products. "Our ISO 9000:2000 manufacturing certification adds to the credibility and recognition of our stringent standards and very tight quality controls at GMP Friction Products."
The ISO 9000:2000 certification is an important milestone for GMP Friction Products. It recognizes and validates their commitment to delivering the highest quality service that their customers have come to expect. The certification was achieved following a rigorous audit of their quality program and conformation to the ISO 9000:2000 standards for manufacturing excellence.
Globally recognized and respected, ISO 9001:2000 standards are set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a Geneva-based worldwide federation of national standard bodies.
ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 159 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system. ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors.
Since 1929, GMP Friction Products has designed and manufactured brake pads and clutch plates for use in a variety of industrial and automotive applications. They provide friction material products to non-automotive industrial manufacturers such as off-road vehicles, construction, industrial equipment, aerospace, heavy truck, and other specialty markets. As a world leader in sintered metallic friction materials, they specialize in working with clients to engineer and create customized parts in a range of materials for controlling, stopping, or transmitting power.
