Summer Enrichment Academy at Sts Peter and Paul School

Sts Peter and Paul School

UPublish story by jp

It may have been summer vacation, but learning and having fun was the motivation for students to attend the Summer Enrichment Academy at Sts Peter and Paul School. Students prepared and viewed wet mount slides under the microscopes, imagined and created art from "trash", learned chess strategies and basic opening moves, and made models using the ancient art of paper folding, also known as Origami. Creating electricity from their own work, by riding a bike to see light bulbs glow was part of Plug Into Green Energy. Students experienced first hand the "power" of the sun. Experiencing a "dig" and piecing their artifact together taught the students the skills and patience of an archaeologist. Joke writing, delivery, and timing were part of the comedy class offered to the Junior High students. Cartooning, from comic strips to caricature, was one aspect of the the Cartooning Technique class choice. Junior High students tried their talent using a pressure-sensitive drawing tablet and Mac Pro computer station. It was a great way to ramp up for the upcoming school year!
