Tim Crawford has represented District 7 on the Summit County Council for the past two decades. The former Norton mayor is seeking his sixth, four-year term. He faces Bryan Suboticki in the Democratic primary.
We recommend the election of Tim Crawford on March 6.
Crawford puts his experience and knowledge to good use, especially in pressing the case for further development of the county charter, for consolidating offices, making the operation more efficient and responsive. On occasion, he runs ahead with ideas not fully formed, though more so earlier in his tenure. Now he more often than not seizes the correct priorities. He understands the challenge ahead in bringing the county budget within its means, protecting the budget reserve. He rightly sees the need to preserve a sheriff’s office hit hard by recent budget reductions.
Bryan Suboticki brings a well known name to the race. His father served on the Barberton City Council. Suboticki was an outstanding basketball and baseball player at Barberton High School. He currently works at PPG Industries in repair and maintenance of industrial machinery, piping systems and chemical process pumps.
Suboticki stresses the need to address the fallout from the foreclosure crisis. He argues for communities communicating more effectively in economic development. He isn’t the advocate for charter reform that his opponent is. He falls short in making the case for ousting this incumbent.
The district covers the southwest portion of the county, including New Franklin and Clinton.
