It’s amazing how thousands of years of human experience, undeniable natural order and even common sense are summarily discarded in order to promote and defend liberal social experimentation.
The writer of the April 1 letter “Foundation of love and respect” takes great exception to the notion that children are best served when raised by a mother and a father.
For today’s liberals, the equation 2 Dads = 2 Moms = 1 Mom + 1 Dad must be accepted as dogma, lest the heretic be labeled a homophobic bigot.
This verbal bullying is very effective, especially among cowardly politicians who fear the labels may interfere with their re-election.
We would do well to learn from the natural order. The fact that contributions from a man and a woman are necessary to create a child suggests that a man and woman should raise the child.
I refuse to believe that intentionally denying a child the care, nurturing and unique gender-specific qualities of a mother or father is harmless.
Using children, incapable of giving their consent to such a radical experiment, as guinea pigs in the devolution of traditional marriage is not a path I find supported in any biblical teaching. The writer’s denial of gender differences, cloaked in the language of love, no less, is a perfect example of the enveloping darkness which results from a rejection of the natural order God has ordained.
Regarding the writer’s biblical supports, I can only assume she stopped reading a third of the way through the New Testament. There are plenty of references to God’s plan for marriage as well as a spectrum of relationships that miss the mark.
We will bury ourselves
One might readily assume I am a pessimist, to say the least. That’s OK, but the scriptures, too, tell us that things will get worse as time goes on.
As a baby boomer, I have seen much change in technology and the culture, some good, some not so good.
Some changes were meant as improvements, but ended up harming the culture, such as the Internet, abortion, even government.
It seems our society is regressing to a savage mentality, with less regard for life, love and liberty. As our technology continues to progress, our culture continues to regress spiritually and morally, a very dangerous combination for any society.
All we have to do is look at what happened to the Roman Empire to see how history is repeating itself. We are not invincible.
I remember Nikita Khrushchev saying back in 1963 that the Soviet Union would not have to raise a single arm against the United States because the county would destroy itself from within with its greed, immorality and lavish lifestyles.
Ironically, Khrushchev’s USSR collapsed first, but don’t think it can’t happen to us.
The Bible tells us that what you sow, you will also reap, sometimes tenfold, sometimes a hundred. It’s easy to put down the generations of today and blame them for all our woes, but the truth is they are only harvesting what was planted by the generations of the ’60s.
Green card to citizenship
Another way to stop illegal immigration would be to curtail the issuing of green cards. They should not be a requirement to get citizenship.
Cards should only be issued to those with a technical background. There are about 140,000 refugees permitted into the country each year.
Becoming a U.S. citizen takes as long as five years, or more. The thousands presently using green cards could become full-fledged citizens faster.
