For Summit juvenile court

We recommend the re-election of Linda Tucci Teodosio

Six years ago, Linda Tucci Teodosio, then a Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court judge, made a persuasive case for change in the Summit County Juvenile Court. In addition to her experience on the bench, Teodosio brought forward new ideas for administering a critical link in the local judicial system, a court with broad reach and lasting impact. She also displayed the right temperament, tough when necessary but dedicated to helping young people turn themselves around. She won the election in 2002. She did so ousting the incumbent.

In seeking re-election, Teodosio has compiled an impressive record of success, delivering on her promises. We strongly recommend the re-election of Linda Tucci Teodosio on Nov. 4.

Teodosio, 51, of Munroe Falls, efficiently and effectively runs a large operation, with some 200 employees and a budget of $14.3 million. The court's caseload is among the highest in the state. Among her accomplishments are programs that aim at the key mission of the juvenile court: the task of setting a pathway to productive adulthood.

To that end, Teodosio has beefed up the drug court, now called the Crossroads Program, by including young people with co-occurring mental disorders and revamping an intensive probation program. Other examples of her innovative touch include the teen court, in which low-level offenders go through a trial by their peers. She has enhanced educational programs at the Juvenile Detention Center. In a second term, she would explore early-intervention programs to curb gang violence.

Teodosio faces opposition from Katarina Cook, an Akron Municipal Court magistrate. Cook, 44, has run for mayor of Akron and, briefly, for Summit County clerk of courts. She has been a municipal court magistrate since 2005, presiding over cases in traffic court. In her campaign, she also emphasizes experience as a mediator in Summit County Common Pleas Court and as an assistant Stark County prosecutor in the juvenile division.

Cook promises a tougher approach to juvenile crime, but offers neither the experience nor the vision of Linda Tucci Teodosio.

No way I'm voting for "Let-em-loose-Linda." Crime in Summit County, and especially Akron, is out of control! Juveniles have no fear of the authorities or the consequences. We need a tougher juvenile justice system in Summit County.

This must be a bad joke. During Teodosio's tenure juvenile court has sunk to a new low. There's a reason she's know as "Let'em loose Linda"

I thought she was doing an excellent job. Perhaps we could hear hear who was "let loose", what choice there was and how Katarina Cook would have done differently.

Katarina is unable to comment on past cases due to the rules of the Election.... Or she would. She will be tough but fair!! Vote for COOK!!

As a retired Cuyahoga Falls Police Officer, I had the fortunate opportunity to be associated with Judge Teodosio in the Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court where she was then a Judge. She was highly professional and when necessary, compassionate. She could also be tough with criminals when necessary. I would highly recommend her re-elction as Summit County Juvenile Court Judge.

Well - talk to the Akron Police Officers and you will hear a different story!
