It is really funny that the ABJ continues to endorsed Orlando Williams when they are fully aware of the fact that he was found GUILTY for a DUI in 2001 - Fairlawn's Mayors Court - Case #01TRC00998.
Aren't we suppose to hold our elected Judges and Public Officials to a HIGHER standard??
The Akron Municipal Court Judges are responsible for passing judgement over citizens accused of such crimes as a DUI - is this who we are going to give the responsibility to for keeping our families, friends, and community safe from Drunk Drivers?
Vote for Marybeth Maxwell for Judge of the Akron Municipal Court
Vote NO #2, go to www.ohioact.org if you care about animals.
Support Judge Fallis for Akron Municipal Court, he's fair & balanced but tough on crime when necessary.
Vote for Judge Stephen Fallis. He's fair but tough. Akron is lucky to have him!
PLEASE just DONT vote for orlando williams
No on Issue 2 - fox guarding the henhouse
No on Issue 3 - slots should be at the racetracks
- tax rate offered by these casino owners is too low
I support Norton Schools and will vote yes on Issue 50. Our children deserve this. The opportunity for a new middle/high school along with a new elementary will not come around again for a long time.
I received one of the best political cards in the mail Saturday from a candidate who was promising to complete his term if he wins. Ha Ha now there is a new one. His qualifications was that his Dad was a judge that eveyone in the area knew. He is running for Clerk of courts in Barberton and is qualified because he is the candidate from the City of Barberton. Several other cities are in the court district not just Barberton. Oh, his other qualifications were that he was a Democrat and a family man with his emphasis being he is a Democrat. I also received a card from the Republican candidate who lists all her qualifications including her H,R role at the sheriffs office, her 15 years of service as an actual attorney and several of the organizational groups she works for or sits on the board of. I never saw anything indicating what her Father did or was. Just "Her" qualification to service the people who will be voting. So will we be voting for the Guy who's Father was a Judge or will we be voting for someone who actually lists her experience and Qualifications. I hope everyone in South Summit County will vote for the qualified candidate Christine Croce for Barberton Clerk of Courts.
The Barberton school levy is a definite NO NO NO. They are advertising all these people who endorse the levy renewel but they live in other cities or are unaware they actually agreed to support this. I talked to several listed who told me they never asked them.
so if the ABJ is saying yes I'm saying no.
I am with you "CHAOS"
This is Mayor Don's fault!
Do the opposite of what the ABJ recommends... exception - NO on Issue 3
@ Your Voice of Reason,
I believe that McNulty's point is that Croce is going to run for Judge in two years and appoint Susan Reily back into the position as Clerk (they have failed to mention in thier ads that Croce is the Republican, how convenient). McNulty is not using the election to get his name out, he simply wants to serve the district as Clerk. Also, you do not need to be an HR attorney to serve as Clerk. No one was happy with the last two lawyers who served. Vote for the candidate with the Business Administraion degree and the ability to manage the office in a professional way (not in a political one) Vote McNulty.
You're right sonrisa, that low tax rate is just not acceptable compared to what the state is receiving now.
Wow, thats the type of thinking that has kept Ohio in the dark ages. Given the fact that the casino owners are taking all of the risks involved, they should be justly rewarded if the casinos are successful.
Think about it, you are against creating thousands of new jobs because you think the owners might be making more money than you think they should.
I just don't get that type of thinking.
I don't get the connection between Riley and Croce besides both are republicans. I would rather have a republican with credentials than a kid with a semi popular father, even though i am a democrat. Shame on gozips14 for thinking this race is Old School Barberton Only. Those of us in Green, New Franklin, Copley, Clinton, Coventry and Norton should have equal imput and will be heard.
does the beacon only endorse people with drinking and driving issues.
The truth is that under this proposal the casino owners will be taking no risk at all. They will have a monopoly on casino gambling in the state as spelled out to their specifications. This would most likely put the horse racing industry (a $900 million contributer to the state's economy) out of business. While they may create thousands of new jobs they will eliminate over 10,000 existing jobs directly related to the racing industry. I'm not against slots- I believe they should be at the racetracks where gambling is already being conducted and monitered by the state. This has nothing to so with casino owners profits- I'm talking about giving them a monopoly to do so at the racing industry's expense.
No on 4, if you vote yes, than Pry can appoint an engineer with a DUI experience on your roads and bridges without your vote.
Isn't taking down election signs before the election illegal? The police said they didn't think it was a crime. How can that be?!
You're all fools if you vote against any school issues.
I wonder why the endorsements are still being feayured on the webpage so long after the election? It makes me curious.
