Rufus Sewell has landed the lead in the CBS drama pilot Eleventh Hour, from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Eleventh Hour is based on a British limited series and will star Sewell as a professor-turned-government adviser who travels the country investigating abuses of science. He's accompanied by a feisty female bodyguard.
Patrick Stewart played the male lead in the original British format, with Ashley Jensen as the bodyguard.
The action has been transplanted to the United States.
Sewell's credits include diverse turns in features like Dark City, Cold Comfort Farm and The Illusionist.
'Frank TV' will return
Frank Caliendo along with John Madden, Al Pacino, Robin Williams and President Bush is sticking around at TBS.
TBS has ordered eight more episodes of its late-night show Frank TV, which features Caliendo performing his wide array of impressions.
Frank TV debuted to 3.2 million viewers in November big numbers for a late-night show on cable (the show's regular time slot is 11 p.m. Tuesdays). The premiere also drew 2 million viewers in the adults 18-49 demographic, a record for a late-night series launch on ad-supported cable.
The show averages a solid 2.1 million viewers per week, with about two-thirds of those falling in the 18-49 demographic.
The new episodes are slated to premiere later this year.
