Dancing Done. Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin and her professional partner, Fabian Sanchez, ended their run on Dancing With the Stars on Wednesday night.
Matlin, who is deaf, had been impressive in her earliest weeks on the show, but had struggled more recently and was at the bottom of the judges' tallies after Monday's performance.
Joining her in the bottom two was the team of singer Mario and his professional partner, Karina Smirnoff, although they have survived for another week. Since they had done an impressive dance to close Monday's show, it appeared that Matlin and Sanchez's total score was far behind any of the other contestants.
The University of Akron's Jason Taylor also remains among the celebrities in contention, as do Kristi Yamaguchi, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Cristian de la Fuente and Shannon Elizabeth.•
Emmy Winner Jeff Probst? That's more of a possibility now that the Primetime Emmy Awards have added a category for ''outstanding host for a reality or reality-competition program.''
The category, the latest attempt by the TV academy to acknowledge the place of reality shows in television, would be open to the likes of Probst, Howie Mandel, Ty Pennington, Ryan Seacrest, Tom Bergeron and Chris Harrison, an ABC rep said. Tyra Banks, though, may create some problems since the category includes hosts, but specifically excludes judges.

Emmy Categories. The Emmys consider ''reality'' and ''reality-competition'' as things apart from ''nonfiction'' programs.
The rules define nonfiction series as ''information programs, investigative programs, biographies and retrospectives.'' A reality program ''generally includes programs in which the premise, circumstances or situations are manipulated for the purpose of creating the program, (and) inscripted reality programs and docu-soaps.'' A reality-competition has ''all game shows or any program that gives a prize or is itself a contest and/or competition.''

Speaking of Reality TV . . . The Stockdale family of Bolivar will be on the ABC reality series Wife Swap at 8 tonight.
The Stockdales — parents Kathy and Tim, and four sons — are presented as a strict contrast to an Illinois family that seems to have no rules at all.
''Kathy home-schools (the boys) and insists they adhere to wholesome values, untainted by modern culture,'' ABC says. ''The boys have little or no interaction with the outside world, and dating is out of the question.''
It will not surprise you that the release exaggerates. For one thing, Tim and the boys go out in the world to perform as the Stockdale Family Band — which has a Web site, http://www.stockdalefamilyband.com. But the two families inevitably have disagreements of the sort that Wife Swap loves.

Patrick Doubles Up. Matt Patrick of WKDD (98.1-FM) will add a second shift to his radio day on Monday, when he begins hosting a two-hour weekday talk show on WHLO (640-AM).
The show will focus on local issues, said Keith Kennedy, program director for Clear Channel's Akron-Canton stations. To make room for Patrick's show, the station will drop the program hosted by Michael Savage and bump an hour from Sean Hannity's broadcasts to a later time.
Effective Monday, the late afternoon and evening lineup will be: Hannity, 3 to 5 p.m.; Patrick, 5 to 7; Mark Levin, 7 to 9; the third hour of Hannity, 9 to 10 p.m.; and Rusty Humphries, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Speaking of Schedules. NBC is flip-flopping Scrubs and 30 Rock on Thursdays beginning tomorrow. Scrubs will take the 8:30 p.m. slot while 30 Rock jumps to 9:30. Well, 9:31.
30 Rock raised eyebrows with a provocative recent episode, especially after a top NBC executive had said the 8 p.m. hour was meant for family shows in the fall.
But the network has since backed off the family-hour declaration, at least for its Thursday lineup. An NBC spokesman told the New York Times that the latest schedule adjustment was meant to give 30 Rock a better lead-in and more attention to star Tina Fey, who has a new movie, Baby Mama, distributed by Universal, NBC's corporate sibling.•
More Meerkats. Animal Planet will air Meerkat Manor: The Story Begins, a feature-length movie that ''tells the story of Flower before she became the Manor's famous first lady,'' on May 25.
The telecast will follow the theater premiere of the movie at the Tribeca Film Festival, and will set the stage for the series premiere of Meerkat Manor: The Next Generation on June 6.
Flower was the biggest star in Meerkat Manor before her death by snake bite in 2007. Her passing led to mourning and tributes, including YouTube videos; an Entertainment Weekly sampling included ones set to My Heart Will Go On, Over the Rainbow and Remember When.
