Three Left on Dancing. Actress Marissa Jaret Winokur (Broadway's Hairspray) was eliminated from Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night, one week shy of the finals.
Going on to next week's season finale are University of Akron grad and pro football player, Jason Taylor; skating star Kristi Yamaguchi, and actor Cristian de la Fuente. The show did not say which order they finished in this week's rankings, which combine judges' scores with viewer votes. Yamaguchi, long a favorite to win the competition, narrowly led in the judges' tallies on Monday night's performance show.
Winokur did not do well with the judges on Monday, but she appeared to have a devoted following among viewers impressed by her personality and her dancing improvement over the course of the show. She even outlasted singer Mario, a more proficient dancer.
But in the final four, she had to get past three formidable competitors. Yamaguchi and Taylor have been generally strong on the dance floor. And de la Fuente had a dramatic story, rebounding from injury during a televised dance to give what the judges considered some of his best performances of the season.

Box Office Follow-Up. In Monday's HeldenFiles, I mentioned that some studios were questioning Warner Bros.' estimates of the money taken in by Speed Racer. Warner's numbers made the pic a distant second to Iron Man over the weekend. But experts cited by Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily maintained that Warner's should have guessed lower — putting Speed Racer in third, also behind What Happens in Vegas.
Well, the actual numbers are out, and Speed Racer did end up in third place, with an $18.5 million take making it look like even more of a dud than the $20.2 million that Warners had suggested.
Why would Warner want to soften the blow? ''There's primo PR value in these Top 10 rankings, which get reported in newspapers and on TV and the Internet,'' said Finke; those numbers are generally based on weekend estimates. And there's fallout from failure: Finke also reports that Speed Racer star Emile Hirsch dropped his agent in the wake of the movie's failure, even though the agency had helped boost his career for seven years.

Beer Frame. Damages star Tate Donovan used to play basketball with George Clooney. But he says in the May/June issue of Draft magazine that those days are gone.
''Unfortunately I don't play basketball with him anymore because my ankles have been absolutely destroyed over the years,'' Donovan says. But Clooney still impresses Donovan with ''a lifetime supply of Guinness in his house, which is one of the most unbelievable things I've ever seen in my entire life. He has his own draft spigot installed in his house and Guinness has given him a lifetime supply. So whenever I head over there, I sneak off and pour myself one.''
He also notes that, when entertaining, Donovan and his wife serve Dos Equis beer. ''Here in California, there's a lot of Mexican food or barbecues, and Dos Equis is a great entertaining beer,'' he says.
And why so many brew quotes? Because Draft focuses on ''beer and beer-related content.''

Magazine Rack. Actress Shayne Lamas, who on Monday accepted a marriage proposal from Matt Grant on The Bachelor, will show other bachelors some of what they're missing in the August issue of Girls Gone Wild magazine.
''The beautiful Lamas, who is the daughter of actor Lorenzo Lamas and granddaughter of the late screen legend Fernando Lamas, appears in the magazine in a sizzling 6-page photo spread along with a candid interview,'' says an announcement from the mag. But no nudity, the mag says, and no inside dirt from The Bachelor.
''Shayne was interviewed by the magazine after learning she was chosen by bachelor Grant . . . but before she was contractually allowed to publicly reveal the show's outcome. As a result, the magazine contains no mention of the series finale, in which Shayne accepted Grant's final rose.''

Trivia Time. The first famous version of Stand By Me was by Ben E. King. As some of you noted, he also was known for his work with the Drifters. This week's prize winner is Kate Hart of Minerva.
