Pop Quiz - The Great Smoky Mountain Race

By Rich Heldenfels

Q: I saw a movie back in the early '80s called ''The Great Smoky Mountain Race.'' I think Larry Storch played in it. Maybe it was a made-for-TV movie. Either way, I sure would like to see it again.

A: There was a 1977 TV-movie called The Incredible Rocky Mountain Race that starred, among others, Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch, who had worked together on F Troop and a 1975-76 TV series called The Ghost Busters (no relation to the Ghostbusters movies). There was a VHS release with that title; I have seen copies for sale on http://www.amazon.com and http://www.eBay.com.

''Pop Quiz'' questions can be sent to rheldenfels@thebeaconjournal.com or the Akron Beacon Journal, 44 E. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44309. Please mark them for ''Pop Quiz'' and do not phone in questions. Look for more questions and answers in Thursday's mailbag column. Letters may be edited.
