The Fourth of July weekend has traditionally been a time when many TV programmers presumably in cahoots with the manufacturers of DVRs give over their schedules to ''marathons.''
Here's a guide to seven marathons that will fill the airwaves.
Show: The Twilight Zone (original 1959-64 series).
Where/when: Sci Fi, 8 a.m. today until 6 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Friday-6 a.m. Saturday.
Our picks: Nightmare at 20,000 Feet (8:30 tonight) and To Serve Man (10 a.m., Friday).
Show: Alfred Hitchcock movies.
Where/when: TCM, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
Our picks: Psycho (1960) at 11:30 a.m. and The Birds (1963) at 3:45 p.m.
Show: Law & Order.
Where/when: TNT, 8 a.m. to midnight Friday.
Show: DirtyJobs.
Where/when: Discovery, 9 a.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.
Show: King of the Hill.
Where/when: FX, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
Our pick: Hank re-enacts the battle at the Alamo (4 p.m.).
Show: I Love Lucy.
Where/when: TV Land, 2-7 p.m. Friday.
Our picks: Lucy does a TV ad for Vitameatavegamin (3 p.m.) and Lucy and Ethel work at a candy factory (6:30 p.m.).
Show: That '70s Show.
Where/when: ABC Family, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Our pick: The show's pilot episode. Because no one knew who Ashton Kutcher was or who he'd become (11 a.m.).
