Bank on these stars
Vince Vaughn is the best star for the buck, says Forbes magazine.
Vaughn raked in $14.73 of gross income for studios for every dollar he was paid for The Break-up, Wedding Crashers and Dodgeball, the magazine calculated for its special entertainment issue, now on newsstands.
''That's because until recently his salary was relatively low, and the films he was in, like Wedding Crashers and The Break-up, had modest budgets yet did extremely well at the box office worldwide ($285 million and $205 million, respectively),'' Forbes said.
Forbes said it compiled the Ultimate Star Payback list by looking at the stars' last three films that opened wide in at least 1,000 theaters before 2008 and were made in the last five years. It calculated the gross income for each film and divided it by the actor's total compensation.
Tobey Maguire ranked No. 2 on the list, with a gross income return of $13.44 for each dollar of his pay for the Spider-Man sequels and Seabiscuit. Julia Roberts was in third place at $13.19.
Brad Pitt ranked fourth with $12.73, followed by Naomi Watts and Matt Damon ($12.16 each), George Clooney ($11.56), Jennifer Aniston ($10.48), Hugh Jackman ($9.90) and Ben Stiller ($9.50).
The highly paid, highly bankable Will Smith ranked 21st with a gross income return of $5.64 for every dollar spent on the big-budget superstar.
Nicole Kidman is at the bottom of the list, at No. 35. Her high-paying roles in The Golden Compass, The Invasion and Bewitched averaged only $1.01 of gross income.
Amy Winehouse in wax
Madame Tussauds unveiled a waxwork of Amy Winehouse on Wednesday complete with her signature beehive, black eyeliner and a bright yellow minidress.
Winehouse's hair and 5-inch black heels make the model nearly 6 feet tall. The wax Winehouse's dress resembles one that the singer wore to the BRIT music awards in 2007, when she won best female solo artist.
Her sailor-inspired tattoos are lovingly reproduced, including a lightning bolt, horseshoe and pinup girls on her arms.
The singer's parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, attended the unveiling, but the 24-year-old soul diva did not. Her father said she was working and would see the waxwork in the next few weeks.
Rapper DMX indicted
Rapper DMX has been indicted on felony charges by a grand jury in Arizona for allegedly trying to get out of paying a hospital bill.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas says the 37-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, has been charged with one count of theft and one count of taking someone else's identity.
Authorities say Simmons went to Scottsdale's Mayo Clinic in April, said his name was ''Troy Jones,'' and received care with the intent of not paying the bill.
Simmons was arrested Saturday at a Phoenix mall.
Stalker charges upheld
A criminal court judge has upheld charges against a Long Island, New York, man accused of stalking Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels.
A misdemeanor complaint says Oyster Bay resident Evans Pidhajecky, 31, claimed Michaels overheard his conversations and singing and used his thoughts on the SNL show without his permission.
The complaint says an ''upset'' Pidhajecky tried to contact Michaels, 63, several times at NBC's Manhattan studios and at his home to ''chat.''
Police arrested Pidhajecky in December and charged him with stalking and resisting arrest.
