Inspiring Guy. As I mentioned in a recent HeldenFiles, Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is believed to have inspired 7 Things, the recent song by Miley Cyrus, who used to date Jonas.
Now People.com says Nick also is the source of I'm Sorry, a song that Selena Gomez plans to record. Gomez, star of the Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, is now reportedly dating Nick.
Which does not mean this will be a happy song. In fact, it may be the only ballad on the CD that Gomez is planning.
''I want the other stuff to be really fun,'' she said. ''But that is probably going to be the most heartfelt one because it was the hardest time for me. That story actually happened to me.''
And that story is?
''It's about a boy I kind of fell for, but he couldn't let his ex-girlfriend go, and it was really difficult,'' she said. ''I felt like in a way, I wasn't good enough.
''The song is basically me saying that I'm sorry that it didn't work out or that she used to be who she was. But you have to let me in and you have to know that I'll do everything I can to make you happy and be the best I can be.''

Runway Delayed. Project Runway's jump from Bravo to Lifetime will have to wait until early 2009, EW.com's Hollywood Insider reports. It had been expected to make its new network debut this fall.
''With this move, the series will resume its traditional cycle of two seasons per year,'' a Lifetime rep told Hollywood Insider. (A new season in the fall would have been the third in 2008, following the show's fourth season, which ran from November '07 to early '08 and the fifth season, currently running on Bravo.)
''We look forward to ringing in the New Year by giving Project Runway loyal fans a superlative Season Six,'' the rep said.
The series has been considered a hot ticket in cable TV, and Bravo has taken the show's makers to court over their jumping to Lifetime. But an Insider source said the delay may have less to do with the lawsuit and ''more to do with Lifetime's inability to get the production together for an autumn start.'' But another source said the show is already cast and on schedule.

No Money for Old Man? The San Antonio Express-News reports that actor Tommy Lee Jones is suing for $10 million he says he was promised for his performance in the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men.
''Attorneys for the 61-year-old Jones, who portrayed the character of Sheriff Ed Tom Bell in the film based on the acclaimed Cormac McCarthy novel, sued Thursday in Bexar County District Court against Paramount Pictures Corporation and its subsidiary, N.M. Classics Inc., a Netherlands-based corporation,'' the paper said.
Jones said he took a reduced fee up front in exchange for ''significant''' bonuses based on box-office returns. The Web site Box Office Mojo says the movie took in more than $160 million worldwide.
According to the suit, the companies later said there were mistakes in Jones' contract affecting his compensation. ''In the suit, Jones requests an auditor be appointed to review the company's books and records and determine how much he is actually owed,'' the Express-News said.

Ouch! ''In the torpid, barely awake voiceover that opens Bangkok Dangerous, Nicolas Cage's world-weary assassin sleepily intones his credo, which includes this rationalization: 'The work is steady, the money's good . . . but it's not for everyone.' That sums up Cage's current career.'' — Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News.

Music Memory. Columbus native Jermaine Stewart was born on this date in 1957. He was most famous for his song We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off ('to have a good time''), which went to No. 5 on the Billboard charts in 1986. He died of AIDS in 1997, about six months shy of his 40th birthday.

Changing News. My column in today's Channels notes that, when it was written, Britney Spears was not expected to be part of tonight's MTV Video Music Awards. After the column went to press, MTV announced that Spears will open the show — although she still is not expected to perform.
Of course, with Spears, everything — including daily life — feels like a performance. Performance art, even.
