Q: My wife and I have a steak dinner riding on the answer to this question. She says Jennifer Aniston appeared in a TV spin-off of ''Ferris Bueller's Day Off.'' I say she is thinking of ''Parker Lewis Can't Lose.'' Who is right?
A: How long have you been married? Don't you know wives are always right? Ferris Bueller, NBC's 1990 sitcom derived from the hit Matthew Broderick movie, starred Charlie Schlatter as Ferris and Jennifer Aniston — later famous for Friends — as his sister Jeannie. (Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey played that role in the movie.) Parker Lewis Can't Lose, which resembled Ferris Bueller and premiered around the same time, starred Corin Nemec as Parker. It ran on Fox until 1993.
Q: I have been looking for a Christmas movie I saw years ago, but have not seen it again. It was a TV Christmas movie, and I don't know if you can get it on DVD. It was called ''If You Believe,'' and it starred Hayden Panettiere and Ally Walker.
A: The 1999 movie was released on DVD several years ago, and more recently in a package with a second movie, Holiday for Love. If your local video retailer cannot order it for you, I have seen it for sale at several online vendors, including Movies Unlimited (http://www.moviesunlimited.com).
Q: I watched the last nine minutes of ''Shane'' recently and may have found an inconsistency in the last scene. Are you aware that an inconsistency at the end of Shane exists?
A: Although the Alan Ladd Western is justifiably considered a classic, the Internet Movie Database notes several errors. Among them: that Shane obviously misses the third man in the big shootout, and that Shane appears to have entered the store, only to be shown outside it again. You can find a longer list at http://www.imdb.com.
Q: What happened to the new season of ''Law & Order: Criminal Intent?'' Are they holding it back, and why?
A: The eighth season of the series, which introduces Jeff Goldblum as the successor to the departed Chris Noth, will begin sometime in early 2009 on USA Network. According to entertainment site Zap2it.com, USA simply said that the delay will allow the season's 16 episodes to air without interruptions — as opposed to the piecemeal airings that some shows get.
Q: On ''The Bold & the Beautiful,'' is Stephanie who is Taylor's daughter really her biological daughter? They look so much alike!
A: Hunter Tylo, who plays Taylor, is not the mother of Jacqueline Macinnes Wood, the Canadian actress who plays Taylor's daughter (and Phoebe's twin) Steffy.
Q: I am wondering if you can help me locate the name of a movie. It was long ago and was filmed in the desert and had ''Hajji Baba'' by Nat King Cole as the music theme.
A: Cole's Hajji Baba, also known as Persian Lament, was the theme of The Adventures of Hajji Baba, a 1954 film starring John Derek and Elaine Stewart. I do not know of an authorized DVD release; I have seen copies for sale on eBay but cannot vouch for the source or quality. If you are mainly interested in the song, it is on a CD reissue of Cole's 1955 album Unforgettable (be careful, as there are other CDs with that title).
Q: I am looking for information on a movie that was released in the 1960s. I believe it was titled, ''The Amazing Mr. Tease.'' It was written up in Playboy during that period as being the movie that opened the door to nudity in movies.
A: I think you are remembering The Immoral Mr. Teas, a 1959 film from nudie auteur Russ Meyer. It is considered a breakthrough in terms of female nudity in films. It has been released on DVD. If your local video retailer cannot get it, try sites like Movies Unlimited (http://www.moviesunlimited.com).
