Q: I recently saw the movie ''Fireproof.'' Kirk Cameron played the lead. I remember him as a child star. What family sitcom was he in?
A: Cameron was a regular on Growing Pains during its 1985-92 run. He played Mike Seaver, the oldest son of Jason (Alan Thicke) and Maggie (Joanna Kerns).
Q: Could you tell me if the movie ''For Love or Money'' with Kirk Douglas and Mitzi Gaynor, 1963, is available on VHS or DVD?
A: I do not know of an authorized release of it.
Q: I have seen ads for a movie, ''My Life in Ruins,'' with Nia Vardalos. It was supposed to be released in March. Is it close to being in the movie houses?
A: The movie from the writer-star of My Big Fat Greek Wedding is scheduled to open nationwide on May 8 — a date some moviegoers have earmarked for the new Star Trek film.
Q: I watch reruns of ''JAG'' on USA Channel constantly. When did the first and last episodes air and on what network? How many episodes were there? Did David James Elliott's real-life wife have a role in the series? What is Elliott doing now? Are there any plans for a movie sequel?
A: So many questions. The series began on Sept. 23, 1995, on NBC, and concluded its long run on CBS on April 29, 2005. According to TV.com, there are about 227 episodes spread across 10 seasons; so far, eight seasons have been released on DVD. Elliott's wife, Nanci Chambers, played Lt. Loren Singer on the series. Elliott continues to act. I do not know of any plans for a movie, although fans have lobbied for one.
Q: What happened to that wonderful singer Vikki Carr?
A: The Grammy-winning singer of It Must Be Him and other hits is marking 50 years in show business. She still performs and received a lifetime achievement award from the Latin Recording Academy in 2008. Her Web site is http://www.vikkicarr.com.
Q: How long did ''New Amsterdam'' last and were all the episodes aired?
A: Eight episodes of the Fox series were made, and all aired in March and April 2008.
Q: Could you please let me (us) know if the show ''Knight Rider'' is returning to TV at some point in time? Also, do you know if ''Eureka'' and ''The Closer'' will be returning?
A: If you are asking about the newest version of Knight Rider, it has completed its first season — you can watch the episodes on NBC.com — and a second season seems unlikely. (The original Knight Rider, by the way, is available on DVD, including in a complete-series box.) New episodes of Eureka and The Closer are due this summer.
Q: Many years ago, there was a three-part series about three generations of sheriffs that all tried to catch a serial killer. I believe Joe Don Baker and Keith Carradine were in it, and maybe Brad Johnson? I would like to see it again, and I am curious if it is available.
A: I think you are remembering Chiefs, a 1983 miniseries starring Carradine, Charlton Heston and Brad Davis, among others, but not Joe Don Baker. Based on a novel by Stuart Woods, it concerned three generations of police chiefs and a serial killer. An edited-down version was released on VHS, but the only DVD I have seen is in the European DVD format, which may not work in your U.S. player.

The original "Knight Rider" is one of the series currently airing on RTN (Retro Television Network), which hasn't yet reached northeast Ohio, but has been on the air for some time in Steubenville, Toledo, and Columbus. Just this week, it finally arrived in Cincinnati on low-power WOTH's 25.3 digital subchannel.
