If it's Thursday, this must be the mailbag . . .
Q: There is a group of us wondering about Charlotte Church. Is she doing concert tours or making any recordings? It is like she has fallen off the face of the Earth. All of us enjoyed hearing her sing.
A: A singing sensation while in her teens, the now 23-year-old Welsh performer more recently focused on a TV show in England — and motherhood. With rugby-player boyfriend Gavin Henson she had a daughter, Ruby, in September 2007 and a son, Dexter, in January.
Q: Do you know if ''Army Wives'' will be coming back, or has it been canceled?
A: The Lifetime series will begin its third season on June 7.
Q: Can you please tell me if ''Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader'' will be back on? It was such a delightful show.
A: It is due back on July 3.
Q: Please tell us the status of ''Burn Notice.'' What happened to it? When does the new season begin?
A: The new season begins June 4 on USA Network; it will now air Thursdays at 9 p.m. As for what happened to it, cable series often make shorter individual seasons than successful broadcast-TV shows, so they seem to arrive and disappear quickly.
Q: Who sings the song and what is the name of it as the Showtime series ''Secret Diary of a Call Girl'' is coming on?
A: That's Amy Winehouse's You Know I'm No Good. And, while things have gone bad for Winehouse, it's a very good song, on her CD Back to Black.
Q: I believe there was a made-for-TV movie from the late '60s and early '70s, set during the Civil War and based around a Yankee soldier who was nursed back to health in a home of Confederate women with no Confederate men around. I think Clint Eastwood was the soldier and Geraldine Page was the matriarch of the home. Also, the girl in ''The Graduate'' and the original ''Stepford Wives.'' (What was her name?) What is the name of the movie? Is it available on DVD?
A: You are remembering The Beguiled, a 1971 big-screen movie starring Eastwood, Page, Elizabeth Hartman and others. Katharine Ross starred in The Graduate and the '70s version of The Stepford Wives, but not in The Beguiled. The movie is available on DVD, including in a budget-priced ''American Icon Collection'' of four of Eastwood's films.
Q: I am looking for a DVD version of that great '70s epic ''Centennial,'' from James Michener's book. Where can I obtain it?
A: The miniseries finally made it to DVD in 2008. If your local video retailer either does not have it or will not order it, online retailers carrying it include Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, Half.com and Deepdiscount.com.
Q: The new show of ''Law & Order: Criminal Intent'' has a new actor in that show called Jeff Goldblum. He used to have his own sitcom. It was short lived, but I can't remember the name of it. Please help.
A: Before joining Criminal Intent, Goldblum's most recent regular TV work was in the 2007 series Raines, where he played a detective who could talk to the dead. He had a recurring role in the seventh season of Will & Grace. And close to 30 years ago co-starred with Ben Vereen in the action comedy Tenspeed and Brown Shoe.
