Portraits of Courage — Facing History and Ourselves (http://www.facinghistory.org) seeks stories of local people who take stands and act on behalf of others as nominees for Upstanders: Portraits of Courage.

Finalists will have their stories, along with a professional photo, on display at the Western Reserve Historical Society, Cleveland, for four months as part of the upcoming exhibit, Choosing to Participate.

To enter, Northeast Ohioans are asked to write a brief essay, story or poem that describes how the individual or group has made a difference in the community or the world.

Nominations must be submitted by June 30 by going to http://www.choosingtoparticipate.org/get_involved/nominate_upstander. The exhibit will be held this October through February 2010.
