If it's Thursday, this must be the mailbag ...
Q: With ''The Celebrity Apprentice'' coming back in spring 2010, I was wondering if the original version of ''The Apprentice'' will ever return to NBC in the future. A: Mark Burnett, the man behind The Apprentice, recently told the Hollywood Reporter that he can imagine alternating seasons of regular Apprentice with the famous-people version.
''There's certainly a real place there for finding people who've lost jobs but who are really smart and driven — it's just a bad economy — and that would be a good thematic season: giving people another chance,'' he said. But right now, he said Celebrity Apprentice is too successful to stop.
Burnett also has another series coming to TV: Shark Tank, where would-be entrepreneurs try to get tycoons to fund their ideas. It premieres Aug. 9 on ABC.
Q: Harper's Island was a 13-week show on CBS. Will there be a rerun or do you know where I can get a copy to see it again?
A: You can find the episodes online at Hulu.com and CBS.com.
Q: Do you know if the show ''Kyle XY'' that was on ABC Family will return and, if so, when? My granddaughter and I have enjoyed watching it together.
A: ABC Family decided to end the series after three seasons. The first two seasons have been released on DVD. Third-season episodes are available online at ABCFamily.com.
Q: I am looking for two movies: ''Falling in Love'' with Meryl Streep (1984) and ''The Gift of Love'' with Lauren Bacall (1958). Do you know if they are available on DVD?
A: Falling in Love, with Streep and Robert DeNiro, is on DVD and modestly priced; if your local retailer cannot get it, try an online seller like Amazon.com or Deepdiscount.com. I do not know of an authorized release of The Gift of Love, with Bacall and Robert Stack.
Q: I was wondering if NBC plans on showing the unaired episodes of ''Life'' the way ABC has done with ''Eli Stone''? It would be great to have some closure to an interesting series and a reprieve from reruns.
A: As far as I can tell, all the episodes of Life have aired. If you think you missed one, they are still online at NBC.com and Hulu.com. In addition, the first season is on DVD and the second one is due on Aug. 25.
Q: While I'm not a big fan of ''Married ...With Children,'' on the times that I have watched it I've seen two different actors playing the neighbor husband. Would appreciate any help explaining this.
A: When Married premiered, the Bundys' neighbors were Steve and Marcy Rhoades, played by David Garrison and Amanda Bearse. Garrison left the series, so Steve and Marcy were divorced. Marcy then remarried, to Jeff D'Arcy, played by Ted McGinley. (And yes, that made his wife Marcy D'Arcy.)
Q: I am looking for a copy of a recording made by Paul Anka called ''Diana.'' Know where or how I might obtain one?
A: I guess you mean, ''Oh, please, stay by me, DIAANNNNNNNA!!!'' The early Anka hit is on quite a few of his CD collections, including Paul Anka: His All Time Greatest Hits: 30th Anniversary Collection, 21 Golden Hits and Five Decades: Greatest Hits. Your local music retailer should have one of the collections or be able to order it. If not, try an online seller like Amazon.com.
Q: Can you tell me the status of ''Worst Week'' that was on CBS last season? It was hilarious! Is it going to be renewed?
A: No. But, according to Tvshowsondvd.com, a DVD of the complete series will be released on Sept. 8.
Q: Will Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay be returning to ''Law and Order: Special Victims Unit'' next season?
A: After what appeared to be some difficult negotiations, both actors signed new deals with the show.
