Imagine water skiing and wake boarding without a boat! That's now available at Wake Nation, Ohio's newest adventure located in Butler County, Ohio.
Cable wakeboarding is one of the fastest growing water sports, although it is relatively new in the United States, so far only seven parks across the country offer the sport. Wakeboarding is similar to snowboarding only the person is towed by cables on water.
Wake Nation offers a pulley system, designed to circulate among six 30-foot towers, allowing complete freedom for wakeboarders, skiers and kneeboarders to do just about any trick they want to do on the 10-acre man-made lake.
Beginners find it easy to learn to wakeboard here; and then they can advance at their own pace. Experienced wakeboards find it easy to get airborne and learn new tricks on the grind rails, table tops and kickers on the lake. Participants must be at least 10 years of age, and Wake Nation offers lessons for beginners.
Guests are welcome to bring and use their own equipment or they can just come in a bathing suit because everything needed is available on site. Cable passes may be purchased for $20 for the first hour; $25 for two hours; or all-day for $35; with several increments in between.
Wake Nation is the first and only cable wake park in the northeastern part of the country. It's great for groups and families because multiple people can ride around the lake at one time. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more riders.
Spectators can watch all the action from the huge observation deck, and the park provides free parking and free admission to everyone, so you only pay for ride time on the water. Visitors can check out the latest equipment at the pro shop, and food is available at the concession stand.
Wake Nation is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until dark and will remain open through October. The park is located at 201 Joe Nuxhall Way in Joyce Park in Fairfield, Ohio, just off I-75. For information call 513-887-9253 or visit www.wakenation.com/
