Climbing mountains — Veteran mountain climber Kitty Calhoun will be the speaker from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Lyceum lecture series. Her program will be held at the Happy Days Lodge off state Route 303 in Boston Heights. Tickets are $8; $3 for children 3 to 12. Fugitive's path — Hale Farm & Village in Bath Township will present a 90-minute program looking at what life was like for escaped slaves in 1852. Park concert — Missy Raines and the New Hip will appear in concert at 8 p.m. at the Happy Days Lodge in the Cuyahoga Valley park. That's off state Route 303 east of Peninsula in Boston Heights. Moving amphibians — The Cuyahoga Valley park and Cleveland Metroparks are teaming up to offer a two-part class on migrating amphibians. There will be an identification class from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brecksville Nature Center off Chippewa Creek Drive in Brecksville. The second class will be held when the amphibians are on the move. Hike, breakfast — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County is sponsoring a hike and breakfast at Goodyear Heights Metro Park. The hike will start at 8 a.m. Participants will be asked to provide items for breakfast when you register. Meet at the park's main entrance off Newton Street in East Akron. Spring hike — The National Park Service is staging a 2.2-mile hike on the Ledges Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley park. It will run from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Ledges Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township.

Bird walk — Park volunteer Dwight Chasar will lead a spring bird walk from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley park. Meet at Horseshoe Pond off Major Road west of Riverview Road on the Peninsula-Boston Township border. The hike will be along the 23/4-mile Tree Farm Trail.

Adopt a trail — The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is seeking volunteers to help clean up and maintain trails. Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Pine Grove and Ledges trails. Meet at the Octagon parking lot off Truxell Road in Boston Township. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress for the weather. Bring a small pack with work, gloves, water and lunch. Valley hike — The Akron Metro Parks Hiking Club will meet at 9 a.m. for a hilly nine-mile hike from the Boston Store to Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley. Trout banquet — The Cleveland Museum of Natural History is hosting its 31st annual Trout Club banquet at 6 p.m. at the museum, 1 Wade Oval. Tickets are $75 a person or $140 a couple. Hampton Hills hike — The Akron Metro Parks Hiking Club will meet at 2:30 p.m. at Hampton Hills Metro Park for a hilly hike. Meet at the trailhead off Akron Peninsula Road north of West Bath Road in North Akron. Call 330-733-3995 for more information.

Birds, nests — The Medina County Park District will present a nature program on birds and their nests at 1 p.m. at the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, 6100 Ridge Road (state Route 94), Sharon Township. For all ages. Free. Call 330-722-9364 for additional information.

Full-moon hike — The National Park Service is staging a full-moon hike in the Cuyahoga Valley park. Meet at 7:30 p.m. at the overflow parking lot at the Lock 29 Trailhead in Peninsula. It will be a 33/4-mile hike on the Towpath Trail.

Just for kids — The Medina County Park District will present Creative Concoction programs for youngsters 3 to 6 years old and accompanying adults at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. at the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, 6100 Ridge Road (state Route 94), Sharon Township.
