Smith Visits. Actor Will Smith will be in Northeast Ohio on Thursday to promote his new movie, Seven Pounds, and help a local charity.
The big public event will be a red-carpet appearance by Smith and other celebrities before a Seven Pounds screening at Cinemark Valley View on Thursday night.
You cannot buy tickets to the screening. But, starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, the first 200 people to bring a nonperishable food item to Cinemark Valley View will have a chance at admit-one passes for the screening at 7 p.m. The items will go to the Cleveland Food Bank. In addition, Smith is donating 200 turkeys to the food bank.
Celebrity arrivals will begin at 6 p.m., and Smith will do a presentation outside the theater about 6:45.
Seven Pounds, which opens Dec. 19, stars Smith as an IRS agent who sets out to change the lives of seven strangers.

Bowling for Tickets. Cleveland's Corner Alley will host the second annual Big Lebowski bowling party from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30. The event is in conjunction with the Cedar Lee Theater's Cult Film Series, which is showcasing The Big Lebowski on Dec. 6.
Lebowski, marking its 10th anniversary this year, is a homage to detective movies, bowling, weed, White Russian drinks — and, of course, Medina Sod, which is featured in a T-shirt in the movie. It comes from Joel and Ethan Coen, who were also behind the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men and the recent Burn After Reading.
At the bowling party, you can get a White Russian at a discounted price. Anyone who wears a bathrobe while bowling will get a coupon for a large popcorn at any Cleveland Cinemas theater. You can also find a coupon for a special game rate and free shoe rental at http://www.clevelandcinemas.com. Lane reservations are not accepted but lanes are being held for the event so participants are encouraged to arrive early.
The bowler with the highest score will win tickets for four to see The Big Lebowski at the Cedar Lee on Dec. 6 at either 9:30 p.m. or midnight. The Coens' Raising Arizona will also be shown at 9:30 and midnight on Dec. 6 on a separate screen at Cedar Lee; tickets are $5 for one movie or $9 for both.

More Movies. Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjui will appear at the Cleveland Museum of Art at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for a screening of his movie Santouri the Music Man. A question-and-answer session will follow the film.
The UCLA-educated filmmaker has made more than 20 movies. Santouri, says the museum, ''follows a young, popular singer-songwriter and player of the [stringed instrument] santour as he struggles against the narrow strictures of his society and ultimately spirals into heroin addiction.'' The movie is banned in Iran but is still circulating via bootleg DVDs.
Tickets are $15; $12 for museum members; $10 for adults 65 and older and for students. The film will also be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at regular prices ($4-$8).
