Saturday was supposed to be the big day for Cavaliers part-owner Usher and fiancee/stylist Tameka Foster, but the ceremony was called off at the last minute.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Usher's publicist, Patti Webster, said: ``The wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected.''
According to AP, ``Webster would not comment on whether the two were still engaged or even a couple.''
•
Blues Background. People magazine's Web site (http://www.people.com) said Usher and Foster became engaged earlier this year and announced in January they were expecting their first child together.
It was to have been Usher's first marriage. Foster was married before, to Noontime Music co-founder Ryan Glover, and had three children with him, People says.

Eastwood off the Screen? Entertainment Weekly's online Popwatch (http://popwatch.ew.com) is asking whether 77-year-old Clint Eastwood has given up acting.
Writer-director Paul Haggis, a screenwriter on Million Dollar Baby and Flags of Our Fathers for Eastwood, wanted the actor-director for his upcoming movie, In the Valley of Elah. But, Haggis told EW's Gregory Kirschling: ``[Eastwood] told me from the beginning he was never gonna act in anything else. He said, `Well, Paul, I was in retirement. I came out of it to do Million Dollar Baby. I don't think I can go out better, do you?''
•
Say It Isn't So! Adds Kirschling: ``Hard to believe, but it's worth remembering that Eastwood hasn't appeared in somebody else's movie as just an actor-for-hire since 1993's In the Line of Fire. Since then, he's appeared only in his own films; the directing's really taken over. And, of course, he did not appear in his last two films, Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima, at all.''
Eastwood joins Paul Newman and Sean Connery on the recent list of big names who have decided to quit acting.
By the way, Tommy Lee Jones got Eastwood's part in Elah.

Killed at the Movies. Adding to the fallout from the latest misadventures by Lindsay Lohan: Her new movie, I Know Who Killed Me, opened in theaters Friday to poor box office and mostly bad reviews.
Movie review site Rotten Tomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com) had it at 10 percent on the ``tomatometer,'' meaning that, of 31 reviews collected, only three could be considered favorable. In comparison, The Simpsons Movie was at 88 percent.

Lawless Is Back. Actress Lucy Lawless will reprise her role of D'Anna on Battlestar Galactica for at least two episodes in the show's fourth and final season, Sci Fi Channel announced Saturday.
For those of you tuning in late, Sci Fi describes D'Anna as ``the religious zealot who broke away from the collective voice of her fellow Cylons, thus sowing the seeds of dissension among the robot race. As a result of her divisive behavior, her entire model was deemed defective and was `boxed.' ''
•
More Sci Fi. The network also said that Sam J. Jones will make a guest appearance on the new Flash Gordon series premiering on Sci Fi on Aug. 10. Jones played the title role in the 1980 Flash Gordon movie.
On TV, Jones will play Krebb, ``a seedy prisoner who reveals surprising information about the fate of Flash's long-lost father,'' says Sci Fi. Eric Johnson plays Flash.
The 1980 Flash Gordon, by the way, is being released in a new DVD edition on Aug. 7.
