Q: There was a space movie a few years back in which three astronauts were removed from a spaceflight just prior to launch because of some danger. They were taken to a communications center, where they played the role of being in space, unbeknownst to the public. They almost pulled it off, except a reporter got wise to it, and the spacecraft burned on re-entry. The space authorities had to get rid of the three astronauts. What was the name of this movie, and is it available?
A: I think you are remembering Capricorn One, which starred James Brolin, O.J. Simpson and Sam Waterston as three astronauts, as well as Elliott Gould, Hal Holbrook and others. It is available on DVD.
