Brewpub plans to work up to eight beers by July. Wine tasting Saturday at Shisler's Cheese House
Published on Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Listen up, beer drinkers — Main Street Grill and Brewing Co. in Garrettsville finally has its brew works up and running and will start serving beer on Saturday.
Owners Pete and Peggy Kepich opened the restaurant in March 2007, with the goal of eventually brewing their own beer. Pete Kepich said there will be four beers on tap to start, but by July the brewpub will be making and serving eight.
In addition, there's a full menu with a wide array of options, from burgers to lobster tail.
In the kitchen is chef Sheldon Lewis, while brewmaster Virgil Drayer-Reed is making the suds.
Main Street is at 8148 Main St., Garrettsville. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. It's closed on Mondays. Call 330-527-3663.
All hail the mighty chefs
Tickets are still available for Hail to the Chefs! — the preview party for this summer's Taste of Hudson.
The event begins with a wine tasting at 7 p.m. Saturday and continues at 8 p.m. with food tastings from nine area restaurants. Hudson's own Western Reserve School of Cooking is making the desserts.
There's a silent auction and music, too. The party's at the Hudson Library & Historical Society on Library Street in Hudson.
Tickets are $100, available online at http://www.tasteofhudson.com. Proceeds will benefit the Safe Kids Coalition of Summit County.
This year's Taste of Hudson will be Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
