Joe and Pam Kanfer opened their beautiful home in Richfield for Summer by Starlight, the fifth annual Butterfly Celebration Gala, on Saturday.
Marianne Sweeney and Kendra St. Charles co-chaired the event for Stewart's Caring Place, a cancer wellness center named for Dr. Stewart Surloff.
As shuttle buses arrived, Mike and Beverly Bolognini and Michael Cohen offered refreshing beverages.
Founder Mimi Surloff-Markis, and her husband, Blair Markis, enjoyed the event with Jeff and Heather Fisher, Doug and Peggy Wagner, Tom and Mary Ann Jackson, Nate and Pattie Light, and Dale and Laura Chorba, Tom Luck and Marcia Dilbeck.
Also in attendance were Democratic U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton of Copley Township, Judge Eve Belfance, Ed Kellerman, Barb Sackis, James and Neile Vitalie, and Steve and Jeannine Marks.
Director of development Evelyn DiBello wanted guests to see the faces of the lives that are touched by their support, so she enlisted photographer Dennis Roliff and Adam Fried of Simply Canvas to create a display of canvas prints of the families and volunteers at Stewart's Caring Place.
Forrmer breast cancer patients Christine Mohr, Jeni Gaffney, Gail Larson, Sue Bluhm and Melanie Robinson found a cozy nook overlooking the Kanfers' lovely lake setting.
Inside, Bob and Shari Whitfield, Manuel and Karen Nackes, Jane Comunale, Bradford Moss, Julie Deane, David Spector and Lisa Steel looked over hundreds of silent auction items.
Following dinner, emcee Dr. Terry Gordon introduced Board Chair Elaine Neumann, who thanked guests.
Bob Hale conducted the live auction. Kristin Bennett introduced a Bichon Frise puppy up for auction to Kim Bork and Cary Hendy.
