If the Barberton Mum Fest is here, can fall be far behind?
The annual festival, at Lake Anna Park this weekend, showcases the city's official flower in all its multihued glory. More than a million blooms will provide the color in elaborate mum displays lining Lake Anna. All the plants were donated by Barberton's Yoder Bros.
Potted mums will be available for sale, so you can take a bit of the festival home with you.
There's more than fall flowers to enjoy, however. The festival has food, vendors, historical displays and entertainment.
Highlights of this year's festival are water ski shows at noon, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. today and at noon and 3:30 p.m. Sunday; the unveiling of a monument to K. Jack Greynolds, former Barberton High School basketball coach, at 1 p.m. today; a renewal of marriage vows at 3 p.m. today by couples married 50 years; and a ceremony honoring Barberton's ''Rosie the Riveters'' at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
In addition, visitors may tour the new Lake Anna YMCA from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
