Some pre-Thanksgiving chores to tackle this weekend, courtesy of Weiman Products:
• Clean the refrigerator. Remove and clean the shelves and drawers, and spray down the interior with a solution of 1 cup water and 1 tsp. dishwashing liquid. Use that solution to wipe down jars, bottles and other containers, too.
Don't forget to clean the outside of the refrigerator. If appropriate, use a stainless-steel cleaner to repel fingerprints.
• Polish silverware and candlesticks that have become tarnished in storage. Look for a silver cleaner that's safe to use on silver pieces that come into contact with food.
• Prepare the guest room by washing bedding, removing pet hair and dusting drawers and closets.
• Put extra hangers in the hall closet for guests' coats, or make accommodations elsewhere in the house. Add a doormat to stop dirt and water from being tracked into the house.
