It's a Bronx. Pete Wentz and wife Ashlee Simpson have welcomed a son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz. The lad weighed 7 lbs., 11 oz., and was 20.5 inches long, according to Usmagazine.com.
According to E! Online, Wentz told Ryan Seacrest before Bronx's birth that the couple didn't want a goofy name.
''My friend said it — you've gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator,'' Wentz said.
Or star in a Rudyard Kipling story, apparently.

More Bronx. Since Mowgli was also the main character in the Disney adaption of Kipling's The Jungle Book, People.com wondered whether the naming extended a Simpson-Wentz fixation on matters Disney.
''The couple prepared to welcome their little mouseketeer with a playful Winnie the Pooh-themed baby shower,'' the site said. ''And who can forget their Alice in Wonderland wedding, complete with Mad Hatter cake?''
And who can forget that all those things are also in, you know, books? That Pete and Ashlee might read? There's plenty to be read, after all.

Sexy Vampires Survey. Akron's Angie Everhart placed third in a Movie-fone.com poll picking film's sexiest female vampires. Everhart has a following thanks to her performance in Bordello of Blood.
Salma Hayek led the women's poll, thanks to From Dusk Till Dawn, followed by Kate Beckinsale (Underworld).
On the male side, Robert Pattinson of the movie Twilight topped the list before people had even seen the movie. Brad Pitt was runner-up for his appearance in Interview With the Vampire. Cam Gigandet, also of Twilight, was third.

But She Did Win One, Didn't She? Regrettheerror.com posted this item from the Washington Post: ''In a previous edition of this story, it was stated that Olivia de Havilland had won an Academy Award in 1939. She was actually nominated, but did not win. The story also stated that de Havilland won an Oscar for the 1948 film The Snake Pit. Again, she was nominated but did not win.''
To set the record straight, de Havilland was nominated five times for Oscars, for supporting actress in Gone With the Wind and lead actress in Hold Back the Dawn, To Each His Own, The Snake Pit and The Heiress. She won twice, for To Each His Own and The Heiress.
The Heiress, by the way, is also based on a book — Washington Square by Henry James.•
Changing Times. Humorist Andy Borowitz offered this thought recently: ''In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say. . . . But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years, many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.''
