Heaven Can Wait — Rescue & Adoptions will join with Barnes & Noble, 4015 Medina Road, Bath Township, to offer gift wrapping. Any purchased items may be wrapped by volunteers for a donation from 3:30 to 7 tonight, 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Barnes & Noble has teamed up with Akron Children's Hospital and Akron schools' Project Rise to receive donated books during the holiday season to be given to children in the area. The Barnes & Noble at 4015 Medina Road, Bath Township, has set a goal of 3,000 books for children as holiday gifts. Customers purchase a new book and designate it for the book drive at the register. 330-665-5199 or http://www.bn.com.
Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio have teamed up with Learning Curve Brands Caring Corners to help children learn that it is better to give than to receive with the Carton of Caring donation program. Parents who buy the Caring Corners Mrs. Goodbee Talking Dollhouse are asked to fill the box that the dollhouse comes in with gently used clothing and toys to donate to Goodwill. Dollhouses are available at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us.
Buehler's locations will be offering the Electronic Red Kettle through Dec. 28 so customers can donate to the Salvation Army at the checkout in each store. Customers paying by check or debit, credit or gift card can add an amount to be donated to the Salvation Army.
Plan Ahead
The Rainbow Repertory Company will host the Life Is a Cabaret New Year's Eve celebration at 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at the McKinley Grand Hotel Ballroom, 320 Market Ave. S., Canton. Open bar, buffet supper, entertainment, champagne toast at midnight, overnight accommodations and breakfast buffet next morning. $250 per couple; $180 celebration only. Heights Arts of Cleveland Heights, will benefit from the Ninth Annual Tommy's New Year's Day Pancake Breakfast from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 1 at Tommy's, 1824 Coventry Road, Cleveland Heights. $7, adult; $5, children 12 and under. Bring an unwrapped holiday gift for a raffle. All proceeds including tips will go to the community arts organization. Dine in or carry out. 216-321-7757.
