Garden tour season is in full bloom.
Seven gardens will be on display during the 2009 Medina County Garden Tour, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26. The self-guided tour is sponsored by the Medina YWCA and Boyert's Greenhouse and will benefit YWCA programs.
Tickets for the tour are $20 and may be purchased at the YWCA, 4046 Medina Road, Medina Township, or Boyert's, 7171 Wooster Pike, Montville Township. Tickets may be purchased in advance or on the day of the tour, but only tickets purchased by next Saturday will include a boxed lunch.
The day of the tour, ticket holders can pick up their tour books from 11 a.m. to noon at the YWCA or starting at 11 a.m. at Boyert's.

Preserving old homes
Do-it-yourselfers can get information about preserving and restoring older homes at THAT Old House, a workshop to be presented Aug. 1 by the Tuscarawas County Heritage Home Association.
The workshop is intended to help people make the right choices in preserving their homes and use the most effective methods, said the association's president, Rod Kirkendall. Participants can choose among sessions on researching house histories, repairing windows, painting exteriors, repairing or restoring masonry, decorating interiors and deciding on wall treatments.
The event will be at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Drive SE, New Philadelphia. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and the workshop ends at 4 p.m.
Cost is $25 in advance or $35 at the door. An optional lunch may be ordered in advance for $5.

Two-for-one deal
Cleveland Botanical Garden is offering a two-for-one admission deal on Fridays through August. Visitors get two adult tickets for $7.50.

• Parade of Ponds, this weekend and next, Akron area. Self-guided tour of more than three dozen water features. Clinic is aimed at owners of buildings constructed during the period from 1800 to 1955. House calls to sites within five miles of the center of Richfield, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday by appointment.
