The Akron Symphony Guild presented its Crescendo! Fashion Forward dinner and style show Thursday evening at the Fairlawn Country Club. The event was a benefit for the Akron Symphony Orchestra Chorus and the Youth Orchestras. More than 200 guests enjoyed a runway show as well as dinner and a chance to win prizes.
''This event shows monumental support for our orchestra, and this organization helps to enrich our community,'' said Associate Conductor Christopher Lees.
Laura Lee Garfinkel and Mary Mitchell greeted guests at the door. Ann Traverse, Fran Holland and Maria DiTommaso agreed they were looking forward to the fashion show.
''I wanted to be here for my good friend who is one of the models,'' said Marie Gore.
Models for the evening included Mary Briggs, Garvin and Theresa Carter, Justin Couch, Pat and Dick Kemph, Lisa Mansfield, Madison Miller, Rima Muakkassa, Cyndee Ramsthaler, Zach Ricci Braun, David Scarponi, Jeana Singleton, Daisy Alford Smith, Ernie Passeos, Richard Worswick and the symphony's music director, Christopher Wilkins.
The first lady of television fitness, Paige Palmer Ashbaugh, was honorary chairwoman. Mary Ann Jackson was the event chairwoman. Stephen Walker sold raffle tickets for various door prizes, including jewelry and fashion accessories.
Also spotted in the crowd were Debra and Len Krause, Karen and Tom Clark, June Tan, Ruth Fee, Catherine and Ted Good and Jim Pearson.
Commentary for the program was provided by Brian Fortney. Heather Burns was the emcee.
