Music from the 1950s greeted guests at the Akron Art Museum's SWITCH benefit Saturday. Katie Albrecht and Matt McCallum co-chaired the event, whose three party themes had music, decor and food changing throughout the evening.
Museum Director Mitchell Kahan greeted more than 200 guests to ''Rock Around the Clock.''
Keith Campbell, Ann Verwiebe and Mike Russell enjoyed nostalgic TV dinners of chicken and Salisbury steak. The entire buffet changed to coincide with the various themes throughout the evening.
Next it was time to ''Party on Dude'' as lively dancers from the University of Akron's dance program danced on mini-stages set up around the room.
Brian Fortney led his own group of dancers, including Stacie Kilgore, Margaret Lazzerini, Kathy Johnson, Dana Saporito and Danielle Kimmel, to the dance floor.
Rebecca Durkalski and Megan Johns recommended the dirty martinis. Chef Marc D'Antonio served nachos, individual pots of jambalaya, and red beans and rice to Lyn Bober, Rachel Skulina and Kristin Pitchford.
Tia and Jason Butterworth enjoyed the party with Megan and Adam Thomarios and Jim Simon. Sarah Cavanaugh, Stu Baker, and Darby and Laura Duryea strolled through the galleries, while Chris Hixson enjoyed conversation with Richard and Tatiana Harris. Also enjoying the event were: Dr. John Petersen, Moise Zarouk, Dr. Herb Croft, Jill Chipps, Jon Fiume and Deedee and Jon Trainor.
The miTunes theme cued a buffet of chicken on waffles, tuna tartar, Marguerita salads and panna cotta.
Ana and Nick Betro couldn't resist the dessert buffet with Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, chocolate-covered doughnuts and a gumdrop tree.
