Glamour and glitz were a part of the Akron General Women's Board Gala Diamonds Are Forever.
The benefit was in true James Bond fashion with mystery and intrigue for 250 guests Saturday night at the Portage Country Club in Akron.
Dr. Rima Muakkassa was the evening's chairperson.
''We really wanted to have an elegant black-tie benefit that also included casino gambling for our guests,'' Muakkassa said.
Looking over auction items, Susan Carter said: ''I am having a great evening so far, and I'm probably going to be shopping for a good cause.''
''We like enjoying time with our friends who are also here,'' said Elaine Sisler, who attended with husband Tim.
Debra Faber Cailor, Jo Bethea, Alice Dickey and Barb Lubinski organized the silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the treatment rooms at Akron General's new emergency department in Bath Township, as well as the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.
Toby Gorant brought her friends Dave and Mary Flanders. Dr. Mark and Karen Horattas agreed that this was a good way to kick off the holiday season. Spotted in the crowd were Louise and Justin Lavin, Tom and Barb Crookes, Michael and Leslie Rindler, and Don and Corine Corpora. Organizers included Monica Talmage, Charlotte Waddell, Mirina Debs, Amy Noggle, Carol Yassine, Lois Orr and Sheila Otto.
