People Helping People
People Helping People is a list of charitable causes in our area that need donations or volunteers. The Beacon Journal has not investigated these causes, so donors should verify their worthiness and the tax-deductibility of contributions. A form for submitting requests to People Helping People can be found at http://www.ohio.com/charity, along with tips on researching charities and a list of causes published.

Community Pregnancy Center, 1058 Wooster Road W., Barberton, OH 44203, is a Christian charitable organization that provides emotional support and practical assistance to people concerned about pregnancy. It is seeking the following:
• Volunteers to help clients choose Christmas gifts for their children Nov. 30 to Dec. 22.
• New items for its Christmas room. Toys and clothes for children, from newborns to teens, are needed.
• Volunteers on an ongoing basis to assist clients, answer phones and sort and organize donations.

Big Brothers & Sisters of Summit & Medina Counties, 780 E. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44306, provides adult mentors for children from single-parent families.
It needs businesses or groups to donate items to fill goody bags for the agency's holiday party. At least 50 of each item are needed. Examples are pens, key chains, pencils and knickknacks a child would like.
Donations can be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays by Nov. 30.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 6155 Rockside Road, Suite 202, Independence, OH 44131, mobilizes people and resources to drive research for a cure for multiple sclerosis and to address the challenges of people affected by MS.
It needs volunteers to pick up and deliver holiday bags to individuals with MS between Dec. 1 and 22. Volunteers must use their own vehicles.
Deadline for volunteering is Nov. 30. Call the United Way Volunteer Center, 330-643-5512.
