Taste of Vintage benefits Goodwill Industries

By Joyce M. Johnson
Special to the Beacon Journal

More than 300 people gathered Thursday evening at Tangier in Akron for a vintage fashion show and a great dining experience.

This was the fourth year for the Taste of Vintage fundraiser to benefit Goodwill Industries.

Jackie McDermott and Larry Uhl chaired the gala, which included a four-course meal as well as live and silent auctions.

''It's like stepping back in time,'' Barry Parker said.

His wife, Penny Parker, added: ''The outfits are all from a different time period, but they are so well put together on the models.''

Beth Galambos had the Nancy Sinatra look complete with white boots.

''I feel like I could bust out in song,'' she said.

Goodwill CEO Nan McClenaghan said: ''This allows us to show off the wonderful donations that come our way and allows us to continue our work.''

Area restaurants such as House of Hunan donated food for the benefit.

Modeling the classic vintage pieces from the Goodwill collection were Lauren Augsberger, Heather Bujorian, Danielle Burrows-Miree, Sonia Cedillo, Barb Feldman, Jennifer Fox, Roseanne Henderson, Beth Kartarius, Pamela Kiltau, Danielle Kimmel, Karoline Krailo, Joan Lee, Janet Lucas, Lisa Mansfield, Elinore Marsh Stormer, Danyell Martin Williams, Annie Medder, Naomi Merkin, Linda Nuosci, Ann Otto, Lisa Pflaum, Kendra Philon, Jenny Schumacher, Janice Stephenson, Heather Thoman, Tiffany Todd, Courtney Whitehill, Nicole Wolanski and Michelle Woodard.

Emcees for the benefit were Scott Wynn and Sue Wilson from WQMX radio.

Friends Brenda Baum and Marion Nemer browsed the many auction items.

''It's just great to see all the people here,'' Baum said.
