Since early 2012, the Beacon Journal has been exploring issues that divide the country in its America Today series. The paper also partnered with others in the community in a civility project that sought to promote respectful conversation about those divisive topics.
This three-part series examines teen moms, who pays for the birth of Ohio children, and the attitudes of young adults toward families, sex and other relational topics.
Focus groups for this series were conducted for the paper by Alice Rodgers of Rodgers Marketing Research in 2012. The stories were held until detailed birth data could be obtained from the Ohio Department of Health, which took several months.
