Clarice Nelson of Springfield Township discovered this recipe at a cookie exchange with friends several years ago. She quickly fell in love with its rich chocolate flavor and has had it on her holiday baking list ever since.

CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE

CHOCOLATE

1 cup flour

⅓ cup cocoa

½ tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. salt

1 stick butter (½ cup)

½ cup sugar

¼ cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

2 oz. semisweet baking chocolate, melted

1 cup chocolate chips

3 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped into ½-inch chunks

Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Cream together butter and sugars until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla and melted chocolate. Beat in flour mixture. Stir in chips and chopped chocolate.

Drop by 2 tablespoons onto parchment-lined cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 11 minutes.

Makes about 2 dozen.
