Akron’s wine event to end all wine events, Red & White on Thursday Night, takes place from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26 at the John S. Knight Center.
This is the 15th year for the wine and food event that raises money for the Arthritis Foundation. It will feature 70 wineries, food from more than 18 local restaurants to accompany the wine, as well as live and silent auctions.
Wine distributors taking part are Bowling Green Beverage Inc., Esber Beverage Co., Glazer’s of Ohio Distributors, Gregory Graham Wines, Heidelberg Distributing, Superior Beverage Group, Traderman Distributors and Tramonte & Sons.
Food will be provided by Quaker Station and the Martin Center at the University of Akron, Bricco, Cabot Cheese, Crave, Eclectic Edibles Catering, the Galaxy Restaurant & Wine Bar, Hudson’s Restaurant, Lockview, Moe’s Restaurant, the Olde Harbor Inn, Piatto Novo, Saffron Patch, Stancato’s, Sugo, Taverne of Richfield, Vaccaro’s Trattoria and the West Side Bakery.

Totally Cooked downtown
Dante D’Avello has opened a second Totally Cooked To-Go location in the second-floor atrium lobby of the AES building, 388 S. Main St., Akron, 330-294-1120.
The eatery serves breakfast and lunch weekdays from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
D’Avello, who operates his catering company and the first To-Go location at 2730 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, is offering hot entrees of comfort foods, soups, and made-to-order sandwiches and salads, as well as grab-and-go offerings and desserts. Hot and cold breakfast items are available.
When the warm weather returns, D’Avello hopes to bring his mobile barbecue “Chuck Wagon” to sell fresh hickory-smoked barbecue and grilled items.

Salsa verde in Green grill
There is a new Mexican restaurant in Green. El Fogon Mexican Grill opened about three weeks ago at 1080 Interstate Parkway in front of the Regal Cinemas.
El Fogon, which is Spanish for a type of wood-fired oven, serves traditional Mexican fare seven days a week. Manager Arturo Baladez said there is a full bar and weekly margarita specials.
Owner is Hector Cuellar, who also operates El Campesino restaurants in Canton and Perry Township.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Call 330-644-7700 for more information.
Bruell has restaurant week
Chef Zack Bruell’s restaurants in Cleveland are hosting their own restaurant weeks from Jan. 15 to 28.
During this two-week celebration, diners will be able to enjoy a three-course meal at any of Bruell’s four restaurants for just $30. Special menu selections are being offered for the event.
Bruell’s restaurants are Parallax, 2179 W. 11th St.; Table 45, 9801 Carnegie Ave.; L’Albatros, 11401 Bellflower Road; and Chinato, 2079 E. Fourth St.
