Grandma Mickey’s Tarts/Linda Henretty, Bath Township

grandmamickey_01
Grandma Mickeys Tarts made by Linda Henretty of Bath Township is a winner in the 2012 Holiday Cookie Contest. (Ed Suba Jr./Akron Beacon Journal)

Linda Henretty of Bath Township got this recipe from her late mother-in-law, Mickey, a native of Turtle Creek, Pa. The recipe has been in her family for 75 years, and although Grandma Mickey is gone, she lives on each time the family has these tarts.

GRANDMA MICKEY’S TARTS

Homemade or premade pie dough (two 9-inch crusts)

1 cup sugar

½ cup butter, softened

2 eggs

¼ cup milk

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup chopped nuts

1 cup raisins

Roll out pie dough to a 9-inch circle. Using a small glass or cookie cutter, cut out dough circles small enough to fit into miniature tart pans. Fit dough into pans.

Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, milk and vanilla and mix to combine well. Stir in raisins and nuts until well combined.

Spoon filling into tart shells.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until crusts are golden brown and filling is set.

Makes about 3 dozen.
