CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OHIO: Someone broke into one of the oldest churches in the Cleveland area and stole artifacts that are more than 120 years old.
Officials at St. Alban Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights said someone broke into a room in the church Wednesday and stole religious items, including two silver chalices and two small silver pitchers.
Church officials tell the Northeast Ohio Media Group that they were shocked and saddened.
Congregant Margaret Martin said “they’re only material things, but they are precious to us. We feel violated.”
The items had survived a fire that destroyed the church building in 1989.
