Q: I liked the dish towels Montana Sapphire Flour used to give away when you sent in five coupons from the back of the package. I have many of them, and they’re finally wearing out. Do you know where I can find something similar?
— Maureen Sega, Wadsworth
A: I wasn’t able to get information on the towels from ConAgra, which bought the company that made Montana Sapphire Flour. However, I suspect what you’re describing are flour sack towels. They used to be made from cotton flour sacks and are still prized for their absorbency and durability.
A number of stores and online retailers sell flour sack towels, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Williams-Sonoma and Walmart. However, the quality can vary. If you’re computer savvy, check the customer reviews of the towels on the retailers’ websites to help you identify good ones.
