Ralphie's house is getting the Griswold treatment.
A Christmas Story House, the house in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood that was home to a fictional Ralphie Parker in the holiday film A Christmas Story, will be ablaze in 25,000 lights this year. It's a tribute to the 20th anniversary of another Christmas classic, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
To kick off the light show, the Cleveland landmark is looking for someone who represents Clark Griswold's approach to Christmas to ceremoniously plug in the lights on Nov. 21. The winner will also get $1,000 to cover travel expenses, a two-night stay at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, a guided tour of A Christmas Story House by owner Brian Jones, a $200 shopping spree in its gift shop, dinner at Pearl of the Orient and prizes that fans of both movies will covet: a leg lamp and a set of moose mugs.
To enter, submit photos or a YouTube video link of a home you've decorated in Griswold fashion, along with a description in 200 words or fewer of how you embody Clark Griswold's Christmas spirit. E-mail your entry to griswoldcontest@achristmasstoryhouse.com.
Details and rules are athttp://www.AChristmasStoryHouse.com.
