Halls are already being decked for two holiday home tours on Dec. 6, the Sugar Plum Tour in Akron and the YWCA Holiday Home Tour in Medina.
The Sugar Plum Tour is from 2 to 5:30 p.m., starting at Angel Falls Coffee Co., 792 W. Market St.
This year's tour will visit five homes in West Akron. A sixth home in Silver Lake will be the site of a patron party from 5 to 8 that evening.
Tickets are $25 for general admission, $100 for patrons and $150 for grand patrons. Grand patrons receive a limited-edition holiday ornament created by Leandra Drumm.
Tickets for both patron levels are limited and typically sell out fast.
The tickets can be ordered at http://www.sugarplumtour.org or 330-761-6426. In addition, general admission tickets are available for cash only at Angel Falls.
Proceeds support the philanthropic efforts of the Akron Community Foundation's Gay Community Endowment Fund.
The YWCA Holiday Home Tour is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the same day. It also features five homes, including a stop on the Underground Railroad and a house decorated in a Twelve Days of Christmas theme.
Tickets are $25 and are available at the YWCA, 4046 Medina Road, Medina Township; Primitive Keepings, 2768 Pearl Road, Medina Township; and Boyert's, 7171 Wooster Pike, Montville Township. Tickets purchased in advance will include a lunch at Boyert's, served at 3 p.m.
Tickets will also be sold on tour day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the YWCA and starting at 11 a.m. at Boyert's.
Proceeds benefit the Medina YWCA. For information, call 330-722-2020.
Planning for Christmas
Since the subject of the holidays has already been broached, I thought I'd pass along a Christmas-planning resource I read about in Stow organizer Chris Perrow's SOS newsletter.
It's Organized Christmas, a Web site with tips and free downloads for planning and simplifying your celebration. Its advice is organized into six weekly themes that are supposed to start in October, but as Perrow notes, you can alter the plan to suit your needs.
Check it out at http://christmas.organizedhome.com.
By the way, you can subscribe to Perrow's newsletter for free at http://www.organizingsos.com.
