Book guides Midwest gardeners

Melinda Myers knows the quirks and challenges of gardening in the Midwest.

She grew up in Ohio, graduated from Ohio State University and is now a horticulturist in the Milwaukee area. She’s also the author of the newly published Midwest Gardener’s Handbook.

The book is billed as a complete guide to selecting, planning, planting, maintaining and problem-solving. Myers addresses nine categories of plants, including trees and lawns, and offers pointers for selecting and caring for them. She also offers a month-to-month guide for each plant category, tailored for our region.

In addition, Myers profiles more than 200 individual plants, giving readers information specific to them.

Midwest Gardener’s Handbook is published by Cool Springs Press and is priced at $24.99 in softcover.
