The HBA Akron Home & Flower Show opens Friday and continues through Feb. 26 at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St., Akron.
Duct Tape Guys Tim Nyberg and Jim Berg will appear at 3 and 5 p.m. Friday, 1 and 4 p.m. Feb. 25 and noon and 2 p.m. Feb. 26.
In connection with their visit, teams of middle and high school students are building homes out of duct tape for a contest sponsored by Habitat for Humanity of Summit County. Show-goers will have an opportunity to vote on the houses.
Also appearing at the show will be Mike McGrath, an author and host of the nationally syndicated public radio show You Bet Your Garden. He will talk about composting, tomato growing, organic gardening and chemical-free lawn care at 2 and 5 p.m. Feb. 25 and 1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 26.
The home show will also feature displays on ecologically sound living and on universal design, which makes homes more accessible; stage presentations on a variety of topics; and more than 7,000 square feet of indoor gardens.
The show will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Feb. 25 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 26. Tickets are $8 at the door or $7 in advance at www.akronhomeandflower show.com. Children 12 or younger will be admitted free.
