You can help track the region’s invasive species using a smart phone app from the Great Lakes Early Detection Network.
The app lets you upload images and locations of suspected invasive plants for experts to confirm. It can be used for reporting other invasive organisms, too, such as Asian carp and emerald ash borer.
The network covers Ohio, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
An app for Android phones is available at http://go.osu.edu/GLEDN. An iPhone app is expected to be available soon.
