Moonlight walk — The Portage Trail Walkers and the Akron Metro Parks hiking clubs will meet at 8 p.m. for a 5-mile hike from Brust Park in Munroe Falls west on the Bike & Hike Trail. Kids fishing — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is opening its ponds for fishing by youngsters 15 and under. Hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at 8912 Portage Lakes Dr., Coventry Township. Derby walk, run — The inaugural Derby Downs 5K (3.1-mile) Run/Walk will begin with the run at 9 a.m. near Akron’s Derby Downs. Meet on George Washington Boulevard outside the Topside area. After the race, the winners will be able to drive a derby car down the track. Other participants get a $5 discount on the $20 fee. The race’s preregistration fee is $25. Go to www.aasbd.org.

Fun Day — The National Park Service is organizing field games, an Underground Railroad hike and games from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley park. Meet at the Octagon Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township. Pack a picnic lunch.

Morning hike — The National Park Service is holding a morning hike of 5.5 miles on the Towpath, Stanford and Brandywine Gorge trails in the Cuyahoga Valley park. It will run from 8 top 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Boston Store Visitor Center off Boston Mills Road in Boston Township.

Valley stroll — The National Park Service is conducting a leisurely stroll of 1.5 miles on the Valley Trail at 1 p.m. Meet at the Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center off Bolanz Road in Cuyahoga Falls.

Family bike ride — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is staging a family bike ride at 10 a.m. on the Towpath Trail. Meet at the Vanderhoof Trailhead off Vanderhoof Road in New Franklin. Total distance is 7.4 miles. Helmets are required. 330-865-8065 or www.summitmwetroparks.org.

Basket workshop — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is conducting a basket workshop from noon to 5 p.m. at the Wadsworth Shelter in Sand Run Metro Park. Full-moon hike — The National Park Service is holding a full-moon hike of 3.3 miles on the Lake and Cross Country trails in the Cuyahoga Valley from 9 to 11 p.m. Meet at the Kendall Lake Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township.

Fun run — The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park will hold a fun run of 3 to 6 miles in the park, followed by an ice cream social.
