Munroe Falls hike — The Akron Metro Parks Hiking Club will meet at 2 p.m. at Brust Park in Munroe Falls for a 5-mile hike on the Bike & Hike Trail. Meet at the gazebo off North Main Street (state route 91) north of the Cuyahoga River. 330-923-6371.

Home-schooled hike — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is holding a winter hike for home-schooled youngsters 7 and older. Meet at 1 p.m. in the Pheasant Run Area of Silver Creek Metro Park. Crystal Palace hike — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is hosting its popular Crystal Palace hike to view the icicles on the rugged Glens Trail at the Gorge Metro Park. Meet at 2 p.m. in the Front Street parking lot in Cuyahoga Falls. 330-865-8065 or www.summitmetroparks.org.

Snowshoe hike — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, is holding a snowshoe hike at 10 a.m. in the Tallmadge Meadows Area of Munroe Falls Metro Park. That’s at 1088 North Ave. (state Route 91), Tallmadge. The rental fee is $5. Children must be 10 or older and be accompanied by adults. Soup hike — Metro Parks, Serving Summit County, will serve up a soup hike at noon in Sand Run Metro Park. Meet at the Shady Hollow Pavilion off Sand Run Parkway in northwest Akron. Bring a bowl and spoon. Advance sign-up is required. 330-865-8065 or www.summitmetroparks.org.

Lantern hike — The National Park Service is staging a lantern hike from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley park. Meet at the Kendall Lake Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township. Hot chocolate will be served around a campfire.

Ravine hike — The National Park Service is sponsoring a 3-mile ravine hike from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley. Meet at the Blue Hens Falls Trailhead off Boston Mills Road west of Riverview Road in Boston Township. Wear sturdy waterproof shoes and bring drinking water.

Skiing hills — The National Park Service is holding a cross-country ski workshop on hills with ranger Paul Motts from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Cuyahoga Valley. Meet at the Kendall Lake Shelter off Truxell Road in Boston Township. Dress for the weather and bring your own equipment. The fee is $10. If there’s no snow, the class may be rescheduled. Scavenger hunts — The Medina County Park District is holding a walk-in scavenger hunt for families from noon to 5 p.m. at the Susan Hambley Nature Center, 4173 Parschen Blvd., Brunswick. It will continue from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. 330-722-9364.

Guitar class — The Medina County Park District is holding a five-week guitar class. It will start at 10 a.m. at the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, 6100 Ridge Road (state Route 94), Sharon Township. Feed chickadees — The Beech Creek Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve will hold a program where participants can feed chickadees by hand from noon to 3 p.m. It will be repeated from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Underground Railroad — The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is offering a look at life on the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves in the 1850s.
